OLIVE OIL: THE ELIXIR OF LIFE

 “ It is preferable to use olive oil when lighting the Menorah because it is easily drawn into the wick, it’s light burns clearly, and the miracle of Chanukah happened with olive oil.”

We should allow the light of the olive oil to inspire us to stand steadfast against the pressure and be strong as the olive.

Today scientists, through complex research, confirm that using olive oil in our diet and on our skin has a positive effect of overall health. Therefore, using olive oil in the kitchen or in the bath relieves and reduces irritation on the skin, cleanses the skin and lowers the risk of heart disease.

LIGHT UP YOUR HOME WITH A DECORATIVE LIGHT!

All you need is a nice glass bowl that you admire.  Fill up half the bowel with water and a quarter of the bowel with olive oil.  Add a wick to the bowl and light the wick and you will have an illuminating light.

OLIVE OIL & CEDAR GLYCERIN SOAP

1 lb hard Glycerin (this can be purchased at Wal-Mart Arts and craft stores
½ cup of olive oil
10 drops of Cedarwood oil.
Muffin tins.

Place Glycerin in microwave for 3-4 minutes. Add the olive oil and the cedarwood essential oil to the mixture and stir for 30 seconds. Pour the contents into the muffin tin. Place in the refrigerator for one half-hour. Take out the round bars of soap from the tin. This makes a wonderful gift idea!

ROSEMARY OLIVE HAIR BLEND

1 oz of cold pressed olive oil
20 drops of Rosemary essential oil

Pour into jar, drop in essential oils, and shake well. Massage scalp and hair for 5 minutes and leave on for at least an hour. Wash the hair with gentle shampoo. Use as a cleansing and invigorating scalp and hair tonic for dry and brittle hair.

Rosemary essential oil is perhaps best know, for its effectiveness as a hair treatment.  It is a tonic and conditioning for dark hair especially, and helps retain the color.  A little added to shampoos or rinses can help dandruff.

FLAVORED OLIVE OIL

1 tsp of dry Basil herb
2 ¯3 garlic cloves
100 mls of olive

Add ingredients to bottle that have a sealed, tight cap.  Shake well. Let mixture sit for one day. Add this to your salads and toppings for vegetables and pastas to encourage a touch of health in your diet. Use the mixture within one week.
