Place of Origin: France

Methods of Extraction: Steam distillation of the leaves and twigs of the orange tree

Scent: Very fresh, pleasing floral aroma, citrusy, herbacous.

Though it has a very distinct aroma, it is from the same species as neroli and bitter orange.

Properties:  Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, Antidepressant, Carminative, Nervine, Deodorant, Sedative, Stimulant, Tonic

Aromatherapy Applications:  Place 2 drops of Petitgrain and 2 drops of pine in the bath for a soothing, strengthening and cleansing bath. 

Mind & Body:  Relaxing, soothing, stress relieving.

Aromatherapist Recommendations:

Combine 2 drops of petitgrain, with 1 drop of neroli and 3 drops of benzoin in 1 tblspn of coconut oil, for a beautiful body moisturzing  perfume oil. 

Most often used in perfume blends and aromatic aromatherapy preparations.


Contraindications: Non toxic and non irritant in prescribed doses.
